While the Rochelle Park Library is still operating in a limited capacity, we are sharing tips and tricks for accessing the digital services available to you with your BCCLS library card.

The Image Collection consists of more than 1 million images including photographs; images from Canadian Press, Getty Images and UPI; maps from Antenna Audio; and photographs from public domain sources. Emphasis is on world news and events, and contemporary and historical photos of people, places and nature.

To get started, you’ll want to go to the Rochelle Park Library website, open the “Services” tab, and select “Research Assistance.”

The “Research Assistance” page is where you can find any of the online resources made available through JerseyClicks, a service offered by the New Jersey State Library to help you access a variety of online materials.

To open the Image Collection, scroll down and click on the Image Collection link in the list of JerseyClicks resources.

Once you have signed in using your library card, you can use the Image Collection to search for any of the image sources listed above.

To create an account, select the “Sign In” button in the top right corner of the page. Then, either select “Create one now” to make an account or enter your existing account information to log in.

Note: the Image Collection is hosted by EBSCOhost, so you can use your EBSCO eBooks, Academic Search Premier, Computer Skills Center, Job & Career Accelerator, Legal Information Reference Center, Points of View, Small Business Reference Center, GreenFile, Primary Search, Business Source Elite, or ERIC account to access this resource.

To conduct a search, enter your search terms in the box at the top of the page. You can limit the kind of results using the advanced search options at the bottom of the page.

For example, here is a search for maps of New Jersey. The quotation marks around “New Jersey” in this search ensure that both words appear in each search result as they appear between the quotation marks.

To save an image for later, you can select the “Add to Folder” button on the right side of the screen when you open the image. You can view these saved files by clicking the “Folder” button in the top right corner of your screen. If you have signed in and created an account, you can access these documents later.
