Logged-On Library: Referencia Latina

Mientras la biblioteca, Rochelle Park Library, sigue funcionando con una capacidad limitada, queremos compartir consejos y trucos para el acceso a los servicios digitales que tienes a tu alcance usando tu tarjeta de biblioteca, BCCLS.

Referencia Latina es una base de datos comprensiva en español, que ofrece un contenido variado de diferentes recursos, incluyendo el acceso a 49,000 temas de encyclopedias; 50,000 imágenes; 2,500 informes de salud; un diccionario para traducir del español al inglés; además podrás encontrar más de 100 libros de referencia y docenas de revistas de interés general, con una amplia gama de temas. Referencia Latina también es intuitiva y diseñada para que el contenido en español sea fácilmente accesible para los usuarios que no hablan inglés y con experiencia limitada en cómo hacer búsquedas en internet.

Para empezar, tienes que ir al sitio web de la biblioteca, Rochelle Park Library, abrir la sección “Servicios” y seleccionar “Asistencia de Investigación.”

En la página de “Asistencia de Investigación” encontrarás varios de los recursos de internet disponibles a través de JerseyClicks, el cual es un servicio que el estado de New Jersey ofrece para facilitar el acceso a una variedad de materiales en internet.

Para abrir Referencia Latina, tienes que ir hacia abajo de la página y hacer clic en el enlace de Referencia Latina en la lista de recursos de JerseyClicks.

Para iniciar una sesión en Referencia Latina, necesitarás ingresar tu número de tarjeta de la biblioteca cuando se le solicite ingresar un código de barras.

Una vez iniciada la sesión con tu tarjeta de la biblioteca, podrás buscar en Referencia Latina tus temas de búsqueda en español.

Para guardar y acceder a la información encontrada para más tarde, necesitarás crear una cuenta. Para hacerlo, selecciona el botón “Conectar” en la esquina superior derecha de la página. Luego, selecciona “Crear una ahora” para crear una cuenta o ingresar la información de su cuenta  existente para iniciar la sesión.

Nota: Referencia Latina es una compañía de EBSCOhost, así que puedes usar tu cuenta de EBSCO eBooks, Academic Search Premier, Computer Skills Center, Job & Career Accelerator, Legal Information Reference Center, Points of View, Small Business Reference Center, GreenFile, Primary Search, Business Source Elite, ERIC, o Military & Government Collection para acceder a este recurso.

Para realizar una búsqueda, puedes ingresar términos de búsqueda básicos en el cuadro al centro de su pantalla. Para opciones de búsqueda más detalladas, seleccione “Búsqueda avanzada” e ingrese más información. 

Por ejemplo, aquí hay una búsqueda de artículos de texto completo publicados entre 2000 y 2020 sobre la poesía de Federico García Lorca. Para guardar un documento para más tarde, siempre podrás seleccionar el icono de carpeta a la derecha del resultado de la búsqueda. Podrás ver estos archivos guardados haciendo clic en el botón “Carpeta” en la esquina superior derecha de la pantalla. Una vez iniciada la sesión y creada una cuenta, podrás acceder a estos documentos más tarde.

While the Rochelle Park Library is still operating in a limited capacity, we are sharing tips and tricks for accessing the digital services available to you with your BCCLS library card.

Referencia Latina is a comprehensive Spanish-language database that offers content from a variety of sources including 49,000 encyclopedia entries; 50,000 images; 2,500 health reports; a Spanish-English dictionary and full text for over 100 reference books and dozens of general interest magazines in a broad array of subject areas. Its intuitive, theme-based Spanish-language interface is designed to make content readily accessible to non-English users with limited online research experience.

To get started, you’ll want to go to the Rochelle Park Library website, open the “Services” tab, and select “Research Assistance.”

The “Research Assistance” page is where you can find any of the online resources made available through JerseyClicks, a service offered by the New Jersey State Library to help you access a variety of online materials.

To open Referencia Latina, scroll down and click on the Referencia Latina link in the list of JerseyClicks resources.

To log in to Referencia Latina, enter your library card number when prompted to enter a Barcode.

Once you have signed in using your library card, you can search Referencia Latina for your Spanish-language research needs.

In order to save the information you find for later, you will need to create an account. To do so, select the “Conectar” button in the top right corner of the page. Then, either select “Cree una ahora” to make an account or enter your existing account information to log in.

Note: Referencia Latina is hosted by EBSCOhost, so you can use your EBSCO eBooks, Academic Search Premier, Computer Skills Center, Job & Career Accelerator, Legal Information Reference Center, Points of View, Small Business Reference Center, GreenFile, Primary Search, Business Source Elite, ERIC, or Military & Government Collection account to access this resource.

To conduct a search, you can enter basic search terms into the box at the center of your screen. For more detailed search options, select “Búsqueda avanzada” and enter more information.

For example, here is a search for full text articles published between 2000 and 2020 on Federico García Lorca’s poetry. To save a document for later, you can always select the folder icon to the right of the search result. You can view these saved files by clicking the “Carpeta” button in the top right corner of your screen. If you have signed in and created an account, you can access these documents later.
